Melody, Rhythm, and Harmony

These three essential musical elements have each been recorded separately, then combined into a single output. When all three elements are listened to simultaneously, the result is a recording which sounds just as if the song were being played or sung by many different people at the same time. The pianist (Ms. Setsuko Totoki) and “sound creator” (Mr. Masatoshi Takase), strike the spiritual and emotional chords of their listeners’ hearts as they deftly weave their sounds together.

These are the sounds created by Trinity Tunes Productions – nostalgic, gentle, and easy going. Music which speaks straight to your heart, as a ray of sunlight passing through a window.

Pianist (Ms. Setsuko Totoki)

twp2.jpgMs. Totoki began her piano studies at the age of five. She became well acquainted with hymns and other religious music at an early age while attending a church preschool. At the age of 16, she studied popular music for the electronic organ, and later moved on to jazz piano. During her college years, Ms. Totoki performed in hotel lounges and at wedding receptions. After college, she worked under an exclusive contract with the Victor Company of Japan and performed at various locations throughout Japan. Later, Ms. Totoki also began teaching part-time at Shobi University Japan, where she still teaches at the present time. She left the Victor Company to start a business, which provides professional musicians to clients, with a close friend. Ms. Totoki is also currently involved in song writing and music arrangement. In 2003, she founded Trinity Tunes Productions, a music production company, together with Mr. Masatoshi Takase. Trinity Tunes released an independently produced CD, “Dearest” in December of 2005.

SetsukoTotoki 1st.Album [Dearest]

“Dearest” is the title of the English translation of Ms. Totoki’s song, “Saiai Naru Hito” (the last song on the CD), and is used here as the title song of her first album. Ms. Totoki lovingly wrote this song for her teenage son, Motonori Totoki (pictured on back cover). This song beautifully expresses the bittersweet emotions of motherly love, encouragement, concern, and sadness to her only child as he comes of age.

From this straightforward, yet complex mixture of emotions in the title song, the album departs into a mixed bag of songs with various guest performers, including a flutist and celloist, for whom the two songs, “Komorebi” and “Wakaba” were rearranged to accommodate. Ms. Totoki originally wrote them as theme songs for internet television dramas which support people with disabilities. A total of 11 guests, including a children’s chorus, perform together with Ms. Totoki in her cheerful arrangement of “Christmas Joy.” In total, the album features seven songs, all written by Ms. Totoki in honor of her beloved son, parents, friends, and God. This CD overflows with her passion for life as she sings and plays the piano for all those whom she holds Dearest, to her heart.
